Teachable Woman Podcast Show Notes

Introduction

Welcome back to the Teachable Woman Podcast with Reverend Michele Owes. In this heartfelt episode, Rev. Owes shares a powerful testimony from a retreat participant whose life was transformed by prayer. Out of that testimony came a challenge that has already blessed women and men across multiple states. Now, you’re invited to join in this spiritual movement—37 seconds of prayer for 37 days—using Jesus’ example of prayer from Matthew 6:9–13.

Show Note 1 – A Letter that Sparked a Movement

Rev. Michele Owes reads a touching letter from a 2025 Teachable Woman Retreat participant. The letter details how the retreat refreshed her spirit and reignited her commitment to prayer. From a small group chat, the 37-Day, 37-Second Prayer Challenge was born, spreading to women and men across Maryland, South Carolina, New York, Ohio, Texas, and beyond. Testimonies poured in of lives changed, prayer lives rekindled, and families praying together.

Show Note 2 – The Power of Collective Prayer

This episode highlights the significance of Matthew 6:9–13, Jesus’ example of prayer, as the foundation of the 37-Day Challenge. Rev. Owes emphasizes why prayer is essential: it is the believer’s key to the kingdom of God and an open invitation for His will to be done on earth. The challenge demonstrates that when women of faith act on what they learn, prayer ignites transformation in communities, families, and personal lives.

Show Note 3 – An Invitation to Join the Challenge

Listeners are invited to participate in the upcoming 37-Day, 37-Second Prayer Challenge from October 1 – November 6, 2025. Each day, participants will pray Matthew 6:9–13, giving God permission to move in the earth. Rev. Owes encourages you to join by visiting teachablewoman.com and sending a note of commitment. Share the challenge widely, and expect testimonies of God’s goodness to follow.

Summary

This episode of the Teachable Woman Podcast is both testimony and invitation. What began as one woman’s obedience grew into a movement of prayer across multiple states. Rev. Michele Owes now extends the call: commit just 37 seconds for 37 days to pray Jesus’ prayer in Matthew 6:9-13 and watch how God moves. Prayer is powerful, and together, women of faith can open the way for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Rev. Michele Owes

Rev. Michele Owes: [00:00:00] Welcome. Welcome back to the Teachable Woman Podcast. I'm excited to be with you today. I am Reverend Michele Owes. Mrs. Cherry and I received a wonderful letter from a participant in the 2025 Teachable Woman Retreat. We wanted to share the contents of that letter because it also contains a challenge, one that we want to invite you to join.

Rev. Michele Owes: So, lean in ladies, and here we go. Greetings Reverend Cherry and Reverend Owes. I pray all is well with you. Teachers of good things. I wanted to share that the Teachable Women's Conference was truly needed and time well spent for me. I left feeling like a watered garden refreshed to stay in prayer and intercession.

Rev. Michele Owes: I wanted to share something the Lord did, and I pray that it will encourage you both. After returning from the [00:01:00] conference, sister, and I'm not going to give that person's name, and I were on a group chat that we're a part of, she was sharing about the conference and the transformative power of prayer.

Rev. Michele Owes: While she was speaking, the Lord put on my heart a challenge knowing we are living in unimaginable times. We need to do what Second Chronicle seven 14 says. So we texted the challenge to whosoever will that for 37 days we would pray. Matthew six, nine through 13, Jesus, which is Jesus' example of prayer. We learned that it would take 37 seconds to give him permission to perform his will in the earth.

Rev. Michele Owes: So in our collective prayer time with accountability, which was to, send a check mark to the group. That said, done. And in that moment, the 37 day [00:02:00] 37 second prayer challenge came alive in the hearts of that group. However, the challenge spread upwards to 50 women and a few men in various groups from Maryland, South Carolina, New York, Ohio, and Texas, and maybe even more that I am not aware of.

Rev. Michele Owes: To God be the glory. From August the first to September the sixth, women were praying faithfully and effectually. After the challenge ended, the testimonies came in sharing what a blessing it was to be a part of this prayer. Some said that it jumpstarted their prayer life. Others said that it blessed them personally to begin praying again.

Rev. Michele Owes: Others said that they enjoyed being. In a group praying with holy women still others said that they were going through difficult times, but were able to pray for others. And another woman [00:03:00] said that her mom asked what she was doing and she explained the 37 37 challenge, and her mom said she wanted to be a part and they are still praying together today.

Rev. Michele Owes: The end of the letter says, thank you so much. I pray the Lord will refresh, restore, and you will recover all. Mrs. Cherry and I were very, pleased to receive this letter. One, because it was a demonstration that the women were not just hearers of the word, but they were doers. That they were sharing what they learned at the retreat, and they were.

Rev. Michele Owes: Putting the practical things that they learned into operation that is very exciting to us and it helps us to know that we were on the right track in terms of what God instructed us to do. In addition to that, we are excited about the fact that people are praying. And why are we excited about prayer?

Rev. Michele Owes: Because prayer is our [00:04:00] key to the kingdom of God. The scriptures tell us that the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous man of vaeth much. And so why are we praying Matthew six? Nine through 13. It is because this is Jesus' example of prayer. When the disciples said, master teach us how to pray, this is what he shared with his disciples.

Rev. Michele Owes: And so if Jesus left us this example, we know that it is an effectual prayer and the condition of our heart makes it fervent. And so we are asking you to join us in this challenge from October the first. Of 2025 to November the sixth of 2025 to give us 37 seconds of those 37 days to pray. Matthew six, nine through 13 daily.

Rev. Michele Owes: If you're going to join us in this challenge, [00:05:00] please go to our website@teachablewoman.com and just go to the contact section and send us a email that says. I'm gonna join your prayer and we would love to hear that. Not only are you joining us, but after the 37 days, or even during those 37 days, we wanna hear about the wonderful things that God is doing in the Earth.

Rev. Michele Owes: Many people do not know that once God gave man dominion of the over the earth, then he needs our permission to intervene in our affairs. And Matthew six. Chapter, verses nine through 13 allows us to give God permission because it says thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven. So join us in this wonderful challenge.

Rev. Michele Owes: It's going to be exciting. Share it with as many people as you know. Give God 37 [00:06:00] seconds for 37 days and watch what He will do. I am Reverend Michele Owes. I am excited to be a part of the Teachable Woman Podcast and this challenge, Mrs. Cherry and I will be joining you for 37 days. 37 seconds. Matthew chapter number six, verses nine through 13.
