Show Note 1 – You Are Not Alone in the Overwhelm

Introduction

Summary

Rev. Owes describes her instinctive response—deep breathing—only to realize she was breathing herself into near hyperventilation without ever asking for true help. It was in a moment of stillness before the Lord that she remembered a simple yet powerful truth: She had a Helper all along—the Holy Spirit.

She shares her humble apology to God for trying to carry burdens she was never meant to carry. She recounts the moment she finally said, “Help me, Holy Spirit,” and instantly felt the weight lift from her heart.

Drawing from Scripture—Luke 11:13, Romans 8:26, and John 14:26—she reminds listeners that the Holy Spirit comforts, intercedes, teaches, leads, and guides. She emphasizes that we often choose stress, worry, and self-reliance when God has already provided divine help living within us.

Conclusion

Rev. Owes encourages listeners to stop deep breathing through life’s problems and simply ask: Holy Spirit, help me. You don’t have to carry the weight of the world. You have a whole Helper.

Show Note 2 – Remember Your Helper

Introduction

In this reflective five-minute devotional, Reverend Michele Owes invites listeners to consider the pressures and burdens that can make life feel overwhelming.

Summary

Rev. Owes candidly shares a recent season where multiple issues collided at once, leaving her confused and stressed. She realized that although she was breathing deeply to calm herself, she had overlooked asking the Holy Spirit—the third Person of the Godhead—for help.

When she finally sat in quietness and cast her cares on the Lord, she remembered that she had a divine Helper who was ready and willing to assist. She apologized to God for carrying weights that were not hers and for forgetting the power that resides within every believer.

She reminds listeners that the Holy Spirit intercedes when we don’t know how to pray, teaches us all things, brings comfort, and leads us into truth. Most importantly, the Spirit does not require our frantic efforts—only our permission and surrender.

Conclusion

If you’ve been trying to manage life on your own, pause and invite the Holy Spirit to guide you. Release the weight, breathe, and let your Helper do what only He can do.

Reverend Michele Owes

Rev. Michele Owes: [00:00:00] Welcome to Five Minutes for Your Day with Reverend Michele Owes. I have a question for you today. Have you ever felt like the world was trying to cave in on you? Maybe you experienced multiple situations occurring at one time in your personal life, and it seemed overwhelming. I recently experienced this, and frankly, I felt under attack.

Rev. Michele Owes: I felt like everything that could go wrong was going wrong, and I couldn't figure out what was happening. But I also noticed that I had a pattern: whenever things happened, I would deep breathe. I would inhale and then exhale, and inhale really deeply and exhale again. And then I would finally say. Jesus and things were happening so fast that it seemed like I was about to hyperventilate with all of my deep breathing.

Rev. Michele Owes: [00:01:00] Then finally, one day I sat quietly before the Lord to consciously cast my cares up on him. the issues were too weighty for me and they were not all mine. They involved the people that I loved and cared for, and in that moment of stillness. I was reminded that I had a helper in the person of the Holy Spirit.

Rev. Michele Owes: I had a whole helper and had not asked for help. I was deep breathing to the point of hyperventilation, but I didn't ask for help from the third person of a Godhead, the one who could help me first. I felt stupid. I apologize to the Lord for thinking that I could handle anything without the leading and the guiding of his Holy Spirit.

Rev. Michele Owes: I apologized for the moments of feeling weighed down when I was never intended to carry the weight. I apologized for being the Christian who saw the weight of [00:02:00] their problems as greater than the power of my helper. In the midst of my apology, I uttered the words. Help me. Holy Spirit. Help me in every way you deem necessary.

Rev. Michele Owes: I did have a little bit of sense. I knew better than to try to tell the Holy Spirit how to help me because I didn't know what kind of help I needed. I knew that I needed the help. I gave him permission to intervene in all of the affairs of my lives and the lives of the people that I love. I ask him to perfect those things that concern me.

Rev. Michele Owes: And I said, Lord, I'm casting my cares upon you because you care for me. In an instant, I felt the weight lift from my heart and my mood changed from somber and heavy to light and hopeful. If you have spent any moments [00:03:00] I did deep breathing instead of asking for the help of the Holy Spirit. If you spend any moments about to hyperventilate through the problems and the issues of your life, just stop and ask for help.

Rev. Michele Owes: God has given us his Holy Spirit, that same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives on the inside of us. The Holy Spirit is a free gift for the asking according to Luke. 11th chapter verse number 13, Romans eight and 26 says, likewise the Spirit also help with our infirmities. For we know not what we should pray as we ought, but the spirit itself make it intercession for us with groanings that cannot be utter.

Rev. Michele Owes: But more than that, the Holy Spirit is our comforter, John 14 and 26 says, but the comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father shall [00:04:00] sin in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring things back to your remembrance whatsoever. I have said unto you. the Holy Spirit will also lead us and guide us into all truth, you and I.

Rev. Michele Owes: We don't have to carry the burdens or the issues of this life. We can cast our cares upon the Lord. We can seek the help and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. And I tell you, day by day, the Holy Spirit began to work things out. And he didn't even need me. He didn't need me to deep breathe. He didn't need me to hyperventilate.

Rev. Michele Owes: He just needed me to give him permission to operate in the earth realm on my behalf. stop deep breathing, stop trying to carry the weight of the world and just ask for help. You have a whole helper in the Holy Spirit. God bless you.
